Right now, you can only play/pause the Listen game, then "finish" it when it's done, which takes you back to the passage screen. It would be ideal if:
1. There's a scrubber. For longer passages, I find myself wanting to repeat shorter segments (or skip down to the area that I'm not familiar with) -- right now, I can do neither.
2. There's an option to repeat once it's done. Technically, this could be achieved if #1 is implemented, but basic idea is I'd like to listen to it over and over again, without having go to the passage screen, and tapping on "Listen" again.
Thanks!
Abe, solid suggestion. You've hit on one of what we consider one of the weaker experiences in the app. We're convinced that a listen function is an important one, but we're not particularly thrilled with our current implementation.
Our main desired improvement is natural voiceover, but, as I'm sure you know, it's complicated and expensive. If we switched to natural voiceoiver, the biggest loss would be the real time word highlighting. So we'll probably have to find a better text-to-speech engine than the built in iOS API.
We hadn't consider a scrubber, though, that's not a bad idea at all, particularly for longer passages.
We hadn't consider an automatic repeat option either, mainly because we have found the current text-to-speech voice so unappealing. That being said, it might be worth including, even before we improve the voice. I'll make sure both of these thoughts are kept in our backlog for when we redo the Listen activity.
Thanks for taking the time to send us your thoughts!
Hi guys, I absolutely love your app. But like Abe, I've been searching the AppStore for this exact feature; the ability to put one verse/series of verses on repeat to just hear it/them over and over again. It would make your app PERFECT for memorization. Pls. consider this feature as it would help us memorize scripture so much more. I find the build in iOS voice okay too; less need to worry about that. God bless.
Awesome, sounds good. Duly noted.
And it's our pleasure! We're dedicated to making Verses better, it's nice to have some help. :)
I totally agree that the voice itself leaves much to be desired -- that said, I do think it's good enough. I love this feature; I tend to memorize it by speaking as the audio is playing. So for me, the scrubber would be the #1 feature, to revisit one sentence prior or to jump to the next paragraph, etc.
Thanks for listening!
