Had a great idea talking to a user re: how we can make getting 100% on a longer passage easier while keeping it fair:
Also, for longer passages, we're going to figure out a "long passage memorization mode" that handles everything around lengthy passage memory. It's a bit frustrating when you're working on a passage with over 300 words and you can't get 100% just because you missed one. But at the same time you want accurate reporting, so you know once you have hit 100% it was because you know the verse perfectly. We'll probably introduce something where you can get 100% over a certain number of "attempts" at the passage and, if you get a high enough score on each attempt, they "combine" to form your total score. E.g., if you get 99% on all two attempts, but miss the first word on the first attempt, but a different word on the second attempt, you'd still get 100% for the combined score of both attempts.
Ideas
- Break up long passages into recommended chunks based on full sentences, sections, and pericopes.

- New Recall game called "Scramble" for long passages. It attacks your memory of a long passage by asking you to recall single verses from it out of sequence.
- Play different games in sequence for long passage memorization. Eg the reorder with many verses is worth more points.
- Display verse numbers inline
- Make it easier to select a whole chapter for memorization at once
- Number the individual verses in a longer passage
- Automatically repeat games as you memorize the longer passage. Essentially make it so you never have to "select" the next game, you just keep getting taken into the next game.
Having verse numbers in line would be great!
I address this by making additional passages that are subsets of the original passage. I work on those smaller passages, then return to the large passage.
It would be neat if the app created those subsets for you, but it’s not that hard to make them on your own.
Hey, I know this is an old thread, but I think a great idea would be to have the “Type Out” game only subtract a point if you get the first letter wrong three times. I am working through memorizing romans chapter by chapter and it is easy to forget a “that” or “for” in the ESV (not to mention the misclicking”.
Another idea would be that anything above a 95% correct we can just mark as memorized, because it’s nearly impossible to go the whole chapter without even a typo. Thanks!
Numbering individual verses in a longer passage would be really helpful.
I see that this is item is three years old. Any updates?
Im unbelievably excited for all of these features to come someday!
It'd be helpful to be able to break down a group of verses in order to memorize one verse at a time. For example, I select all the verses in one chapter and add them to "my verses" instead of one by one.
The Scripture typer app allows you to break down long passages verse by verse before typing the whole chapter out.
What would be your time frame for adding these features?
These are great ideas! Do you have a time frame for when they will be implemented?
Easier selecting of chapters and auto-chunking would be a fantastic addition.
I would like to memorize an entire book, but its very difficult to do this right now.
I like all of these ideas. Thanks!
I really like this idea It is currently not optimal for the memorization of long passages.
