If you were able to connect your verses account and you version account, you would be able to see the actual verse you are memorizing before you click it to memorize it. You could, for example, highlight a verse in youversion, click “memorize” as an option that would take you directly to the verses app so you don’t spend time googling and searching for verses you want to memorize to find the reference to be able to find it on verses. Otherwise, having a full bible in the app would be helpful for reading a verse before you click “memorize”
