Allow the user to record his own voice reading the verse. Then allow him to play back that audio in place of the automated reader that has trouble with pronunciations. The reader also has no inflection and struggles with timing pauses.

I totally agree! I have a completely separate verse memorizing app just for this, and its just taking space on my iPad. Adding this simple feature would free up a lot of space and make the app much better
